Sofia Angels Ventures – Announcement
For the first time, we – Sofia Angels Ventures (SAV), are partners in the annual edition of „Best Youth Startup in Bulgaria“ – the only national format for youth entrepreneurship in our country, uniting the entire ecosystem. We, together with other funding institutions, funds, sector associations, academic and scientific circles, stand behind the common cause of supporting the growth of the next generation of creators of innovative Bulgarian products and services with global application.
The program is organized by the Fund of Funds and FEBA, Sofia University – Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“, aiming to enhance the entrepreneurial culture among young people in Bulgaria. The competition is under the patronage of the Minister of Innovation and Growth and the Rector of Sofia University.
– Students and young people from across the country up to 29 years old can participate, as well as 11th and 12th graders with innovative business ideas.
– Projects from all sectors and at different stages are eligible – idea phase, early or advanced stage.
– A 10-week mentoring program with the best experts in the ecosystem is upcoming, with mentoring sessions according to the individual needs of the participants.
– The final is on May 31 with presentations in front of a jury of investors of the ten best concepts.
– The strongest projects will have the opportunity for equity investment and many more awards to advance their projects to the next level.
The competition is a springboard for successfully realizing plans for one’s own business in all sectors of the economy and aims to increase the entrepreneurial culture among young people in Bulgaria, including generating and developing ideas, business planning, marketing, presenting to investors, etc. In its first edition in 2022, the competition attracted 36 projects, and last year the participants were over 50. The authors were students or graduates from 17 Bulgarian and 7 foreign universities. High school seniors from 7 Bulgarian high schools were also admitted to the contest. The competition has supported the acceleration of ideas in various fields – fintech, e-commerce, recycling, virtual reality, artificial intelligence applications, electromobility, education, agritech and urban farming, career development, civil society, architecture, creative activities, etc. The strongest projects received direct investment or managed to attract funding at a later stage.
Applications from young people across the country are accepted through the competition website by March 15 latest.
